A heritage working farm on Salt Spring's southeastern shoreline: history, ocean fields, and weddings planned end-to-end by Folklore.
The venue
Perched on the southeastern shoreline of Salt Spring Island, Ruckle Heritage Farm is a place where history, nature, and love come together. Established in 1872, it remains the oldest working family farm in the Gulf Islands, offering open pastures, forested trails, and sweeping ocean views, an idyllic setting for couples seeking a celebration rooted in place and meaning. At Folklore Wedding Company, we’re proud to offer elopement and micro wedding planning at Ruckle Farm for celebrations of up to 30 guests. While our focus is on intimate gatherings, please note that the farm can accommodate larger weddings of up to 100 people (including vendors). If you’re dreaming of a larger celebration, we’re happy to point you toward the right planning support to help make that happen.
How Folklore holds your day
From the moment you book, we work closely with you to create a relaxed, intentional experience. We handle timelines, vendor logistics, decor coordination, and on-the-day support, so you can simply be present and soak in every moment. Our weddings are inspired by the natural beauty of the island and designed to feel soulful, personal, and grounded.
Our team of photographers and filmmakers offers documentary-style coverage in digital, Super 8mm film, 35mm film, and handmade Tintype portraits. Whether you want a short highlight video, vintage black-and-white stills, or editorial-style digital coverage, we bring a deep storytelling approach and years of experience working together seamlessly as a team.
We offer optional add-ons to make your celebration uniquely yours. From live music, vintage photo booths, and artisanal desserts to sailboat charters and private chefs, we’ll connect you with vendors who bring something special to your day. Our team can also help plan multi-day adventures, like farm tours, wine tastings, kayaking, or spa visits so your wedding becomes an unforgettable Salt Spring Island getaway.

Folklore Wedding Company offers both planning and media support for weddings at Ruckle Farm. Our on-island planners coordinate vendors, manage logistics, and help bring your vision to life, whether that’s rustic simplicity or a fully custom design created with our design partner. In addition, our creative team provides full media coverage, including photography, videography, and specialty offerings like analog film and tintype photography. Couples can choose to work with us for planning, media, or both, creating a seamless one-stop experience for their Ruckle Farm wedding.
Investments listed on our site are starting estimates, based on the base costs of our core vendor team. Final pricing can vary depending on the specific services, design choices, and vendors couples select. In the end, the total may be more, or in some cases less than the starting price. While our costs reflect a planning fee that works within the current structure of each package, we also offer customized packages for an additional planning fee. Our planners work with each couple to create a clear, personalized proposal that reflects their vision and priorities.
Not at all. While many couples choose to work with our in-house media team because we know our partner venues intimately and have a seamless working relationship between planning and media, we are always happy to collaborate with outside creatives. The benefit of keeping everything under the Folklore umbrella is efficiency and consistency, our planners and photographers are already aligned on timelines, lighting, and location logistics, but if you have another photographer or filmmaker in mind, we’ll gladly integrate them into your wedding plan.
