Who photographed this Qualicum Beach wedding?
The wedding photos are by Sydney Woodward, a founder of Folklore Wedding Company alongside his partner, Taryn Strong. Based on Salt Spring Island, Sydney draws on the coast around him and the trust he builds with a couple, and he works across digital, 35mm film, Polaroid, video, and the wet-plate tintype process that produces one-of-a-kind heirlooms. On a day this tied to place and family, that mix leaves you with both easy digital frames and a few slow, deliberate pictures worth keeping for a lifetime.
The flowers
Sharmin arranged the flowers herself, which gave the whole day a handmade warmth you can feel in the photographs. The blooms came from Breadblooms, grown by Chrystal, so the arrangements carried that just-cut, local quality rather than anything shipped in from far away.
The Vancouver Island wedding vendors who made it
A day like this comes together because a handful of good people show up and do their part well. Catering was handled by Mensch Kitchen and Catering (Michael Shipley), and the day was coordinated by Intended Events (Nicole Crooks), who kept everything moving with an easy hand. Rentals came from Black and White Event Rentals (Medea T), and the music came from the Company B Jazz Band (Shannon Scott), whose sound suited the water and the evening. Our thanks to all of them.
