Creg & Iwona: A Wedding Film at Hastings House

Bride and groom walk arm-in-arm toward camera at Hastings House on Salt Spring Island

A wedding film from Creg and Iwona's celebration at the historic Hastings House on Salt Spring Island.

A Hastings House wedding film keeps a whole day within reach: the old stone, the harbour below, the people. Creg and Iwona married at the historic Salt Spring Island inn, and this highlight film brings their celebration back to life.

Creg & Iwona, Hastings House

What makes a Hastings House wedding film special?

The venue gives a filmmaker an unfair head start. Hastings House is one of Salt Spring Island’s most storied settings, weathered stone buildings and gardens above the harbour, and every frame borrows some of that history. Creg and Iwona’s day moved through it gently, from preparations to vows to a long, warm evening, and the film gathers those hours into something the two of them can step back inside whenever they like. We photographed another celebration here recently, Andrea and Ted’s Hastings House wedding, if you would like to see the venue in stills.

A day built by a close team

Days this smooth are made, not found. The venue and catering were handled by Hastings House itself, with day-of coordination by Across the Watters, hair and makeup by Beauty en Route, photography by Billie Woods Photography, and rentals by Black and White Party Rentals. When every vendor knows their corner of the day, the couple gets to be guests at their own wedding, and the film shows it: nobody on screen is managing anything, they are simply celebrating.

In their words

Thinking back to our wedding day, it all feels like a dream. The day went by so quickly, which is why we are so grateful to Sydney for capturing our wedding day so beautifully on video. The highlight he’s created for us brings the whole day back to life, we can’t stop rewatching the footage and smiling.

Creg & Iwona

That is the whole case for a wedding film in two sentences: the day goes by quickly, and the film gives it back. Folklore founder Sydney Woodward filmed and edited Creg and Iwona’s highlight film with the same quiet, documentary approach we bring to all of our cinematic wedding videography.
